About Kamesha

Kamesha Brown Mumford is a dedicated attorney, judge, and community advocate running for the Mississippi State Senate. A lifelong Mississippian, Kamesha earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Women’s Studies from Mississippi State University and her Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Louisiana.

Kamesha brings almost 20 years of legal experience to the table, with a strong focus on real estate and tax sale litigation. She is a founding partner of Mumford & Mumford Law Firm and co-founder of Mumford Title, LLC, where she works closely with individuals and families on real estate closings, title work, and legal matters that affect property ownership and investment.

Since 2013, Kamesha has served as Municipal Court Judge for the City of Canton, now in her third term. In 2017, her fellow judges elected her President of the Mississippi Municipal Judges Association. She also serves on the DUI Information Exchange Advisory Committee, working to improve public safety and court processes across the state.

Beyond the courtroom, Kamesha is active in organizations that empower women, families, and communities. She is immediate past President and current General Counsel of Dress for Success Metro Jackson, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Lefleur’s Bluff Chapter of The Links, Inc., and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She’s a graduate of Leadership Madison County and Leadership Greater Jackson.

Kamesha and her husband, Hinds County Prosecuting Attorney Gerald Mumford, proudly live in Hinds County with their two children, Garrison and Gianna. She is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Sammy & Shirley Brown of Canton.

With a heart for service and a deep understanding of the challenges facing Mississippi families, Kamesha is ready to bring her experience, integrity, and steady leadership to the State Senate.
